The Green Bay Packers are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history, holding a league record 13 championships including four Super Bowl victories.
The Packers’ Super Bowl journey began at the very start of the game’s history. Under legendary coach Vince Lombardi, Green Bay won the first two championships, establishing the foundation for the NFL dynasty:
- Super Bowl I (1967): The Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 35-10, with quarterback Bart Starr earning the first-ever Super Bowl MVP award.
- Super Bowl II (1968): Green Bay successfully defended its title, defeating the Oakland Raiders, 33-14, with Starr again named MVP.
The trophy awarded to the Super Bowl champion each year is named the Vince Lombardi Trophy in honor of the coach who guided the Packers to those inaugural victories.
The team returned to the pinnacle of the sport in the late 1990s:
- Super Bowl XXXI (1997): Led by Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, the Packers defeated the New England Patriots, 35-21, snapping a nearly 30-year drought.
The franchise’s most recent title came in the 2010 season:
- Super Bowl XLV (2011): Quarterback Aaron Rodgers guided the Packers to a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning Super Bowl MVP honors.
The Green Bay Packers have made five Super Bowl appearances, boasting an impressive 4-1 all-time record in the big game. The Packers’ history is forever intertwined with the history of the Super Bowl itself.
